Landed.

We've landed. Alexandria, Virginia is our new home. Pretty surreal, we agree. Nothing like driving by the Kennedy Center for the Arts, Arlington Cemetary, & the Pentagon on your way into town! We definitely still feel like starry-eyed tourists.
Daniel's loving his new job as an Acoustics Consultant at Wyle Labs, & I (Sara) have landed a very exciting full-time position at the Graham Webb Academy (part time administrative & marketing, part time cosmetology instructor).
We're settling into house-sitting for my cousins while they vacation for a month in Florida, giving us time to choose just the right apartment in just the right location!
We've also become novices (that's just past the "beginner" stage!) at the public transit system. We learn best by calling our mistakes "explorations of the city". Better to laugh than cry or get mad, right?! The subway is called the "Metro", & the bus from the Metro to "our" house is called the "Dash bus" (it's the Alexandria city bus).
We've explored a few churches so far, are leaning toward Capitol Hill Baptist, but still plan to check out some more in the area, too.
That's the basics. We've found 2 resources to be irreplaceable: a 3x5" VERY detailed spiral-bound map of the city, & a "Newcomers Guide" book. Don't leave home without them -or else definitely borrow ours!

Daniel and Sara,

This is the first blog I've ever entered! Heather and I are glad you are getting settled in. Hope all continues to go well.

Hi Guys!

I know exactly where your apartment is if it's near that mall. FYI- the Kennedy Center is free to enter and tour but the shows aren't. Two nice restaurants there as well. The first teir balcony Row A are the best seats if you ask me.
