Meet David, our new fish! A fish was on my Christmas wish list, & so my brother, Keith, got me a gift card so that our newest pet wouldn't have to endure an airplane ride to get home :) He's about 2" long, vibrant red in color, & has a spunky, always-swimming personality, which makes him fun to watch...he's named after Keith's middle name -in case you were wondering :)

This brings up such a bitter-sweet part of our lives recently. Over a year ago, we got Dawson a beta. Bubba, as we affectionately call him, has trekked with us from Tennessee, to Iowa, and now to Michigan, where we are living with Marissa's parents. Dawson feeds Bubba every night, and we have been planning, somehow, to take him with us to Alaska. We were away from the house for training for a couple of weeks, and long story short, my in-laws (accidently) killed Bubba! They told us, and they replaced Bubba with a Bubba-look-a-like before we returned, so Dawson doesn't know (yet). Ah well... I guess I didn't expect Bubba to last forever... Now we just have to figure out a way to get Bubba II up to Alaska!
Do you remember when I had a beta fish, and your dad used to tell me that all those bubbles at the top of the bowl meant that he had gas? *Sigh*
